4 Things We Like About Microtel Hotels in Quezon City

As the only Philippine city where Microtel has more than one property, Quezon City holds a special place in the select-service hotel chain. The group has been helping Quezon City with its tourism by highlighting several less known activities and attractions that can be found, but it's also pushing for a staycation experience in its two properties, Microtel by Wyndham Acropolis and the new Microtel by Wyndham UP Technohub.

Microtel hosted a media familiarization trip for Quezon City in April, and here are three takeaways we learned during the trip:

1. Microtel designs its properties as urban homes

One of the most noticeable character of a Microtel hotel is the relaxing ambiance it exudes. All of the branches that I’ve visited and stayed so far do not have an intimidating feel. Properties are welcoming and, as cliché as it sounds, feel like home.

2. Microtel UP Technohub's roof deck pool is a great venue for parties

Have you seen Microtel MOA's awesome roof deck pool with an unhampered view of Manila Bay?

Microtel UP Technohub has its own roof deck pool, providing an ideal view of Quezon City skyline. If you're organizing a luau-themed party, Microtel UP Technohub could just be your venue of choice.

3. Even a select-service hotel can invest in green

Microtel UP Technohub combines modern architecture and green landscaping to complement its location near the tree-filled University of the Philippines Diliman campus
Both Microtel Acropolis near Eastwood City and Microtel UP Technohub implement green programs in their own capacity.

As a green certified building in Quezon City, Microtel Acropolis near Eastwood City pioneers environment friendly features like motion-detecting LED lighting. The hotel also incorporated reconstructed materials, placing the building at the forefront of the city’s “green infrastructure”.

Meanwhile, Microtel UP Technohub maintain their garden contributing to peaceful surrounding of the place, complementing its location just across the tree-filled University of the Philippines Diliman campus.

4. Microtel's brand of service

Having stayed in five different Microtel branches, I have noticed that their staffs are really polite and respectful to all guests. With their back-to-basics service concept, the staff members try they do know and understand their customers.  Not only that, they treat everyone as important as anyone else.
What I like most is that they’re not really nosy. I had one experience where I badly needed a strong WiFi connection, so every time I got disconnected I requested for new WiFi password. On my fourth call (yes, I counted), I was expecting some snarky response but on the contrary, they still entertained my call and gave me advice what I can do if ever I got disconnected again. I say, genuine service even to the most ridiculous request.
For Microtel Philippines HR Director Benny Rosales, it is important that the hotel chain invests on their people's talents because their staff is their greatest asset

I got a rare chance to have a quick chat with Benny Rosales, Microtel Philippines HR director during my stay at Microtel UP Technohub. In the middle of a sumptuous lunch, I listened to his stories on how he usually goes around their branches not just to do random checks but to actually catch up with most of their staff in an informal setting, strengthening his connection with the people working with the hotel. For Benny, it is also important that they invest to their people’s talents because their people is their greatest asset.
If you're looking for luxury amenities, Microtel Philippines is not for you. The hotel chain is for those who are looking for a 3-star hotel with great service. Overall, Microtel is my top hotel choices in the country; what sets it apart from other hotels is the quality of service it provides to customers. I’ll take good service over the fanciest tub.
