Hilarious "fail" photos earn foreigners all-expense-paid trip to the Philippines

Before you delete fail moments captured on camera, consider sending it to the Department of Tourism first -- they might just be your ticket to an all-expense paid trip to the Philippines.

Three foreign passport holders recently learned that not all "photo-fails" must go to waste.

Jarne Uytersprot from Belgium, Cinthia Kato from Japan, and Kaisa Kapanen from Finland are recent winners of a global photo-fail competition by the DOT.

Launched in London last year, the competition encouraged foreigners to submit disappointing or often hilarious photos that didn't go according to plan, taken in the Philippines. Entries should use the hashtag #visitphilippinesagain2016.

Each winner bagged a return trip for two to the Philippines this year.

The DOT prefers to look on the bright side of things, calling these "photo-fail" moments as highlights of "fun and candid experiences in the country."

It labeled 2016 as Visit the Philippines Again Year after the widely successful Visit the Philippines 2015 campaign that saw several business, sports, and entertainment events held in the country.

"2016 is the year of 'again' and 'Visit the Philippines Again' will once more highlight the country as a multi-level experience destination filled with exciting activities and endless new discoveries, shared with their warm and fun-loving hosts, the Filipino people," says Tourism Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez, Jr.

More are coming this year such as Madrid Fusion Manila 2016, 2016 Ironman 70.3 Asia Pacific Championship, MTV Music Evolution 2016, and the World Street Food Congress. -Paolo Abellanosa
