There were three product
strands for the event: the Artisanal, which depicted the skills of Filipino
craftsmen honed through years of woven history and heritage; Greencrafts or the
green movement design that showed commitment to eco-friendly craft; and the Luxe
Lifestyle which simply means elegance and top quality prestige brands that are
limited edition intended for a specific market.
The exhibits were divided
into various sections. The
Design Center of the Philippines (DCP) also has its own setting as well which
includes design workshop on paper lamp-making, lamination of raw materials, and
palm frond-making.
The event highlighted pieces of designer Ito Kish whose work in the Spring Forward put focus
on the versatility of Philippine products.
International Fashion Icon Josie Natori was curator for Manila Wear, showcasing her unique fashion pieces that combine artisanal crafts with contemporary sensibilities that continues to put the Philippines in the international fashion scene.
Meanwhile, Marian Roces was lead curator of the Y’ari exhibit, showcasing clothing and accessories made from pina (pineapple) silk, glass beads, pearls, and precious metals adding modern touches with the design.
